The boys race took place at noon. 28 teams competed along with 40 individual qualifiers. There were 235 individual finishers. The team placed 2nd! 1st Dixon 115 points 2nd Mahomet-Seymour 143 points 3rd Deerfield 155 points 4th Morton 169 points 5th Peoria Notre Dame 249 points In the 56-year history of the program, this is our fifth time trophying. Top 25 medaled, earning All-State honors. In the fastest individual race ever at the IHSA 2A State Championship, we had one All-State runner--Henry McMurry (16th). We keep records of the fastest individual and team times for MSHS at this meet. Henry McMurry ran the 4th fastest MSHS senior time ever with his 14:41.43. Auggie Gaudio ran the 12th fastest MSHS senior time ever with his 15:07.61. Tate Bode ran the 9th fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 15:05.36. Adam Smigielski ran the fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 14:48.65, smashing Mathias Powell's record of 14:58. Tate Bode is now the 17th fastest runner we've ever had for the 3-mile distance and is the 10th fastest junior we've ever had. The team had the 2nd fastest top 5 and top 7 averages ever by an MSHS team at the state meet. We had three runners run lifetime 3-mile personal bests--Henry McMurry, Adam Smigielski, and Tate Bode. We had some exceptional races by the guys today in one of if not the most competitive 2A team competitions ever. Henry McMurry was 33rd at the 1-mile mark. By the 1.5, he was in 27th. By the 2, 19th. By the finish, 16th. Auggie Gaudio passed 23 people in the final mile to help our team secure a trophy. Adam Smigielski ran a 34-second PR to help the team secure a trophy. Tate Bode defended his position the whole race, going through the mile at 38th and finishing in 36th. Tay Gergen sealed the deal by being the second fastest #5 runner in the race, keeping our points low enough to win a trophy. Full Mahomet-Seymour can be found below. Thank you to those that support the program for helping make this one of the best teams in program history. It's been a fun season!
