The girls continued their historic streak this season and tying for 32nd out of 48 teams that scored points at State. This is the first time a swim team from Mahomet-Seymour has ever scored at the state meet, and this was the first area team to score at the girls' state meet in several years! I cannot be prouder of this team and all of their accomplishments this season. It truly was one for the record books. Talynn O'Donnell led the charge by placing 25th in the 200 IM and placing 16th in the preliminaries of the 100 free on Friday, qualifying for finals today. She then moved up from 16th to 9th place, winning the B final from an outside lane with a 51.77! She is the first swimmer from Mahomet to ever score in an individual event at the IHSA state meet! Talynn, along with her teammates Lainey Howard, Caroline Mills and Raegan O'Donnell, placed 16th on Friday in the 200 Free relay, qualifying for finals today, and holding their 16th spot to become the first Mahomet relay to ever score at the IHSA state meet. Another great State performance came from Aubrey Meints, who placed 37th in the preliminaries of diving. This was her very first year as a diver and made it all the way to state! Raegan O'Donnell also had some good performances in her individual events. She dropped time in her 500 free, breaking her own school record by going 5:04.44, and placing 18th. Raegan also swam the 200 free, dropping time by going 1:53.58, and placing 19th. Lastly, our 400 free relay (Talynn O'Donnell, Caroline Mills, Karsyn Johnson and Raegan O'Donnell) swam exceptionally well, dropping 1.26 seconds from their record-breaking time at Sectionals, re-breaking the team record, and going 3:32.67 placing 17th.
