Varsity vs Central High School (3 - 2) Win Half MS 2 Central 1 Final Ms (home) 3 Central 2 In a Matchup of the last 6 area regional champions, the Bulldogs were able to strike late and give the Maroons their first loss of the year. The game was pretty open back and forth with the Bulldogs focusing on trying to make life difficult for last year's News Gazette player of the year. While they did a solid job of that, Central's dangerous center mid had a good night scoring both their goals. After a tight first 30 minutes, the Bulldogs got called for a tough penalty. Central's Chloe Sikora stepped up and drained it. The Bulldogs demonstrated their resilience by coming right back at the Maroons. Paislee Welge was able to hit a long ranged shot to equalize. Shortly before half, Kennedy Davis was able to get a clean header on a corner kick from Izzy Lietz and take the Dogs into half at 2-1. In the second half, the score stood until five minutes left in the game. Sikora was able to find space from range and drilled a fantastic shot that tied the game. The Bulldogs once again stormed back. Ella Walk was able to get the edge and drive past her defender and rocket a shot past the keeper to lift the Bulldogs with less than 90 seconds to go in the game. The backline and the Jacobs had a great night against two of the best attackers we will see this year. The Bulldogs will have to keep improving though with another extremely difficult challenge Thursday night at home against Washington.
