We saw several personal records and some amazing competitive spirit. The weather was chilly this morning, but it heated up as the day went on. Springfield Southeast hosted a very well-run meet at a beautiful facility. Mahomet-Seymour delivered a strong performance highlighted by standout efforts across sprints, distance, relays, and field events. In the absence of some of our varsity standouts, our younger runners did a great job of stepping up and taking on the competition. Leading the way was Madalyn Marx, who had a historic day, setting two school records while capturing the 400m title in 55.34 (PR) and finishing 2nd in the 200m in 24.67 (PR). In the distance events, Emily Anand dominated the 3200m, winning in 11:30.55 (SB), while teammate Paige Jansen secured a runner-up finish in 11:46.69 (PR) and added a 5th place finish in the 1600m (5:41.14 PR). The Bulldogs also saw success in the relays, with the 4x400 team (Evelyn Hillard, Cecily Smith, Emily Anand, Madalyn “Mady” Marx) placing 3rd in 4:12.20, and the 4x800 relay (Cecily Smith, Taylor Mills, Kennedy Ashby, Ava Cvengros) finishing 4th in 10:18.83. In field events, Cecily Smith earned a 3rd-place finish in pole vault (3.10m), and Hannah Martin added a 4th-place finish in the triple jump (9.98m).
