By Matt Hensley | May 21, 2026 9:47 AM

Bulldog track & field gets the three-peat tonight. Back-to-back sectional champs for the first time in 2A! It didn’t look good for the dogs earlier tonight. We were down by 19 with 3 events to go. Auggie Gaudio and Henry McMurry placed and qualified for state narrowing the deficit to 13. Then we had the miracle of the 200. Steffen Kellner was ranked number one and he did win, but Brayden Thompson was ranked 7th and was way out in lane 8. The super sophomore ran a huge personal best of 22.48 to get 2nd! That 1-2 punch meant the Bulldogs now had a 5 point lead with one event remaining - the 4x400. Mahomet-Seymour was ranked second, but the team of Henry McMurry, Auggie Gaudio, Tate Bode, & Cody Moen ran a 2 second personal best to seal the deal and win the sectional! State qualifiers 4 x 800 Tate Bode, Jackson Koontz, Tay Gergen, and Adam Smigielski 4 x 100 Brayden Thompson, Kingsley Boateng, Cody Moen.
