Varsity Boys Cross Country 2nd at Metamora Today, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys Cross Country team competed in the Metamora Gene Jones Runnin' Red Invitational at Black Partridge Park in Metamora. 29 schools competed in the meet, with 23 of those schools bringing complete teams (5 or more runners) There was a varsity race and a fresh/soph race. We put all our runners in the varsity race. The team placed 2nd. This is our highest team placement since 2021 when the team also placed 2nd. Morton won with 92 points, Mahomet-Seymour placed 2nd with 126 points, and Normal (University) placed 3rd with 127 points. Our scorers today were junior Auggie Gaudio, junior Henry McMurry, senior Zach Wilcoski, freshman Adam Smigielski, and senior Lukas Nykaza. Top 30 medal. We had 3 medalists--junior Auggie Gaudio (3rd), junior Henry McMurry (6th), senior Zach Wilcoski (28th). We keep records of the fastest times run by class for MSHS runners at the Metamora Gene Jones Runnin' Red Invitational. The course is 2.94 miles. Zach Wilcoski ran the 19th fastest MSHS senior time with a 15:48. Auggie Gaudio ran the 7th fastest MSHS junior time with a 14:59. Henry McMurry ran the 8th fastest MSHS junior time with a 15:04. Adam Smigielski ran the 8th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:14. Tay Gergen ran the 21st fastest MSHS freshman time with a 17:00. Liam Burwell ran the 22nd fastest MSHS freshman time with a 17:04. Carter Alderks ran the 25th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 17:08. The team had a very strong day. The top 5 average (15:40.7), the top 7 average (16:03.1) and the overall team average (17:38.7) were all the fastest we've had since 2017. Our next competition is the Apollo Conference meet on Tuesday, October 15th. The 3-mile race we'll be held behind Mt. Zion Intermediate School. All girls race at 4:30pm with all boys at 5:15pm.
