Mahomet Seymour High School

Yesterday, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys Cross Country team competed in the IHSA 2A Mattoon Regional. The meet was held at Lake Land College in Mattoon. There was one boys varsity race at 10:45am. Only 7 runners could compete. The team placed 1st. This is our first time winning the regional meet since 2021. This was the program's 19th time winning the regional meet in the 55-year history of the program. Top six teams qualify for the sectional meet at Olney Central College next Saturday. Zion 84 points 3rd Champaign (Central) 85 points 4th Charleston 100 points 5th Olney (Richland County) 116 points 6th Urbana 136 Our 7 runners were senior Kaleb Kasper, senior Zach Wilcoski, freshman Adam Smigielski, senior Lukas Nykaza, sophomore Tate Bode, freshman Tayten Gergen, and freshman Henry Welch. Top 5 medal and earn All-Regional honors. We had 1 medalist--Kaleb Kasper placed 4th. We keep records of the fastest times run by class for MSHS runners at the regional meet. It should be noted that the course changes each year. Kaleb Kasper ran the 22nd fastest MSHS senior time with a 16:03. Tate Bode ran the 19th fastest MSHS sophomore time with a 16:39. Adam Smigielski ran the 7th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:34. Tay Gergen ran the 9th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:43. Henry Welch ran the 22nd fastest MSHS freshman time with a 17:16. Our next competition is the IHSA 2A Olney Sectional on Saturday, November 2nd, at Olney Central College in Olney. Boys varsity will race at 11am.
