Mahomet Seymour High School

Today, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys Cross Country team competed in the IHSA 2A Olney Sectional. The meet was held at Olney Central College in Olney. There was one boys varsity race at 11am. Only 7 runners could compete. The team placed 2nd. This is our highest placement at the sectional meet since 2021 (1st). Top seven teams qualify for the state meet at Detweiller Park next Saturday. This is the first time the team has qualified for the state meet since 2021. Qualifying team's scores are shown below. 1st Highland 127 2nd Mahomet-Seymour 135 3rd Marion 145 4th Mt. Top 10 medal and earn All-Sectional honors. We had 1 medalist--junior Henry McMurry placed 4th. We keep records of the fastest times run by class for MSHS runners at the sectional meet. It should be noted that the course changes each year. Kaleb Kasper ran the 22nd fastest MSHS senior time with a 16:01. Henry McMurry ran the 6th fastest MSHS junior time with a 15:23. Auggie Gaudio ran the 19th fastest MSHS junior time with a 15:53. Tate Bode ran the 17th fastest MSHS sophomore time with a 16:21. Adam Smigielski ran the 11th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:40. Tay Gergen ran the 14th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:47. Our next competition is the IHSA 2A State Meet on Saturday, November 11th, at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Boys top 7 will race at noon.
