Boys Cross Country 6th at State. Gaudio earns All - State honors. Today, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys Cross Country team competed in the IHSA 2A State Meet. The meet was held at Detweiller Park in Peoria. The boys 2A race took place at noon. Only 7 runners could compete. The team placed 6th. This is our highest placement at the state meet since 2017 (1st). Top 25 medal and earn All-State honors. We had 1 medalist--junior Auggie Gaudio placed 25th. Junior Henry McMurry, in a photo finish with Auggie Gaudio, placed 26th. The two ran a great race, almost stride-for-stride with each other the whole way. It was the fastest year for All-State honors in 2A history (2A began in 2007). This year it took 14:55 to earn All-State honors. The previous fastest year, 2012, took a 15:04. We keep records of the fastest times run by class for MSHS runners at the state meet. Kaleb Kasper ran the 12th fastest MSHS senior time with a 15:16. Auggie Gaudio ran the 6th fastest MSHS junior time with a 14:55. Henry McMurry ran the 7th fastest MSHS junior time with a 14:55. Tate Bode ran the 9th fastest MSHS sophomore time with a 15:52. Adam Smigielski ran the 4th fastest MSHS freshman time with a 16:15. We had four runners run lifetime 3-mile bests today--senior Kaleb Kasper, junior Auggie Gaudio, junior Henry McMurry, and sophomore Tate Bode. Out of the program's 19 state meet appearances in its 55-year history, this year's top 5 average was the 5th fastest and the top 7 average was the 6th fastest.
