Varsity vs Clinton High School Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs won big over Clinton 16-1 on Tuesday. A solo home run to right field by Bass put Clinton on the board in the top of the first. Mahomet-Seymour flipped the game in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Nolan Johnson on an 0-2 count that drove in two. Bulldogs added one run in the second after Cole Henderson singled up the middle. Mahomet-Seymour scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Miles Woolsey singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Max Young singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run. Young earned the win for Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking two. Bastic took the loss for Clinton. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up seven runs (six earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking two. Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs amassed 13 hits in the game. Henderson led Mahomet-Seymour with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The infielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Camden Heinold, Woolsey, and Johnson each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Tyson Finch paced Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Mason Orton, Heinold, and Young each stole multiple bases for Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs. Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs stole 12 bases in the game. Bass went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Mahomet-Seymour Varsity Bulldogs play at home on Friday against Urbana in their next game.
