1st half MS 4 (road) Charleston 0 Final MS-8 Charleston 0 Mahomet went on the road to win 8-0 against Charleston to open Apollo play. Charleston plays an extremely compact style vertically. The Bulldogs while too often offsides, were able to consistently exploit the space behind the Trojan lines. Strikers Erika Johnson, Grace Binkley, and Gwen Cambron each were able to find ways to sneak behind the defensive line. Not since the clandestine use of a large wooden horse have the Trojans been so deceived. Johnson scored in the first two minutes of both halves and had a hat trick in limited time. Binkley also had her first varsity goals in two seasons. Gwen Cambron returned after an arduous injury recovery which started last spring to score her first two goals of the year. Freshmen Lainey Jacobs earned what will undoubtedly be the first of many career shutouts. The Bulldogs will have their home opener Friday night under the lights at 630.
