Mahomet Seymour High School

Boys Cross Country 1st at Clinton On Saturday evening, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC Team competed at Clinton High School in the Light It Up XC Meet. This is the sixth year the meet has been held. It was the team's first time attending. There were two races held--a boys varsity race (top 7) and a boys open race (all additional runners). 37 teams competed in the varsity race, with 30 being complete teams (5 or more runners). The team placed 1st. Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st with 51 points, Clinton placed 2nd with 106 points, and Olney (Richland County) placed 3rd with 195 points. Our scorers were Auggie Gaudio (5th), Henry McMurry (9th), Tate Bode (10th), Adam Smigielski (15th), and Tay Gergen (16th). Top 25 medaled in the varsity race. We had five medalists--Auggie Gaudio (5th), Henry McMurry (9th), Tate Bode (10th), Adam Smigielski (15th), and Tay Gergen (16th). 26 teams competed in the open race, with 14 being complete teams (5 or more runners). The team placed 1st. Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st with 33 points, Clinton placed 2nd with 45 points, and Bloomington (Central Catholic) placed 3rd with 122 points. Our scorers were Will Bednar (4th), Caleb Zulauf (5th), Kiptyn Fan (7th), Corban McMinn (12th), and Jackson Koontz (15th). As this is our first year competing in this meet, we don't have any prior records to compare to. We had 10 runners run lifetime 3-mile personal bests--Tate Bode, Adam Smigielski, Tay Gergen, Liam Burwell, Carter Alderks, Jackson Koontz, Blake Patrick, Dominic Bruns, Bernardo Allan Pinto, and Matthew Gray. We had five freshmen complete their first 3-mile race--Will Bednar, Caleb Zulauf, Jake Mills, Eric Webber, and Corbin Moser. We had five runners make it onto our MSHS Fastest 3-Mile Times By Class. Auggie Gaudio is our 14th fastest senior ever with his 15:15.53. Henry McMurry is our 15th fastest senior ever with his 15:18.78. Tate Bode is our 18th fastest junior ever with his 15:29.68.
