Boys Cross cCountry captures Apollo team title Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC Team competed at Barber Park in Mahomet in the Apollo Conference Championship. We joined the Apollo Conference back in 2017. There was one boys race. 6 teams competed. There were 76 individual finishers. The team placed 1st with 20 points. This is our 7th time winning the conference meet since joining. 1st Mahomet-Seymour 20 points 2nd Taylorville 51 points 3rd Charleston 86 points 4th Mt. Zion 105 points 5th Mattoon 134 points 6th Effingham 157 points Our scorers were Auggie Gaudio (2nd), Henry McMurry (3rd), Tate Bode (4th), Tay Gergen (5th), and Adam Smigielski (6th). Top 10 medaled, earning All-Conference honors. We had five medalists--Auggie Gaudio (2nd), Henry McMurry (3rd), Tate Bode (4th), Tay Gergen (5th), and Adam Smigielski (6th). This ties our team record for most Apollo All-Conference runners (2020 team). We keep records of the fastest individual and team times for MSHS at this meet. It should be noted that the location of the meet changes every year. Auggie Gaudio ran the 7th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 15:07. Henry McMurry ran the 9th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 15:14. Tate Bode ran the 11th fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 15:21. Tay Gergen ran the 2nd fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 15:23. Adam Smigielski ran the 3rd fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 15:24. Liam Burwell ran the 17th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:15. Carter Alderks ran the 18th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:19. Caleb Zulauf ran the 21st fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 16:58. Will Bednar ran the 24th fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 17:03. The team had the 3rd fastest top 5 average we've had at the conference meet. The team had the 2nd fastest top 7 average we've had at the conference meet. The team had the 4th fastest team average we've had at the conference meet. A few runners moved up on our top 3-mile times ever list. This list is for any race on any 3-mile course. Auggie Gaudio is now the 13th fastest senior we've ever had. Tate Bode is now the 13th fastest junior we've ever had. Tay Gergen is now the 2nd fastest sophomore we've ever had. Adam Smigielski is now the 3rd fastest sophomore we've ever had. We had 11 runners run a lifetime 3-mile personal best--Tate Bode, Tay Gergen, Adam Smigielski, Liam Burwell, Jack Van Hoorn, Dominic Bruns, Garen Johnson-Farkhoyan, Bernardo Allan Pinto, Henry Carpenter, Corbin Moser, and Matthew Gray. Full Mahomet-Seymour can be found below. The team's next meet will be the Central Illinois Fresh/Soph Championships next Tuesday afternoon. There will be a fresh/soph race and an open race. After that, we will be competing in the regional meet at Olney on Saturday, October 25th.
