Girls Cross Country 2nd at Mattoon Sectional -- advances to State Finals in Peoria The Mahomet-Seymour Girls Cross Country team is headed to state! The team took 2nd place at the 2A Mattoon Sectional behind the #1 ranked team in the state, Chatham Glenwood. There were 17 complete teams in the field and 133 runners. Emily Anand earned all-sectional honors with her ninth place finish. She was followed by Paige Jansen 16th, Cecily Smith 19th, Anniston Huff 29th, Ava Cvengros 34th, Finley Smith 44th and Kennedy Ashby 53rd. The state meet takes place on November 8th at Detweiller Park in Peoria. The 2A girl's race is at 11:00 am. The boy's race is at noon. Should be an exciting day with both teams ranked in the top 10 in state!
